This journey is built for travellers who want to experience the Sahara slowly. A private 4×4 takes you from Foum Zguid across Lake Iriki to the dunes of Erg Chegaga, where you spend two nights in a desert bivouac instead of one.
The extra day is what makes it special: a gentle sunrise walk through the dunes, lunch in the shade of the tamarisks at Oum Laâlag Oasis, and on the way home the prehistoric rock engravings of the Jbel Bani region, with animals and hunting scenes carved thousands of years ago.
Highlights
- Two nights in a desert bivouac
- A gentle 1.5–2 hour sunrise walk in the dunes
