Chegaga on Foot: nine days from the mountains to the dunes

Our longest journey: walk from the Anti-Atlas foothills over Lake Iriki to the highest dunes, with camels carrying the camp.

← All posts

For people who want to earn the dunes. You start in the rocky foothills of the Anti-Atlas around Foum Zguid, walk across the stony plains and the flat bed of Lake Iriki, and finish on foot in the high dunes of Erg Chegaga.

Camels carry the tents, food and water, while local guides lead the way and cook. Expect long, quiet days of walking, mirages on the lakebed and the feeling of crossing a landscape step by step.
